Babies do not need a bath every day, but they do need to stay clean and dry. Everyday, it is important to wash your baby's face, neck, hands and diaper area (in that order), with special attention to cleaning in between their skin folds. It is also important to wipe your baby's gums with a soft clean cloth every day.
Before you begin bathing your baby, make sure to gather the supplies you may need first including, a towel, wash cloth, soap or shampoo, clean diaper, clean clothes and a tub with warm water. You may also choose to sponge bathe your baby so you don't have to place them in a tub. Remember to always keep one hand on your baby while they are in the bath and never leave them unattended in the tub, not even for a second. Due to safety concerns, Health Canada recommends that parents do not use bath seats or rings.
