Pale or whitish-coloured stool can be an early sign of a liver disease called biliary atresia. These babies may also have yellow skin and eyes (jaundice) lasting longer than the first two weeks of life. Ontario has a screening program to help families screen for biliary atresia in the home, by monitoring their baby's stool colour. Biliary Atresia (BA)
Pale-coloured poop is often an early sign of a liver disease called biliary atresia. Parents/guardians screen for biliary atresia by monitoring their baby’s poop during the first month of life using an infant stool colour card (ISCC).
