If you're not anticipating risks or interventions in your labour, then small amounts of food and liquids will help keep your energy up. Some women are very comfortable eating and drinking while others don't tolerate it well or feel queasy. You'll work with your nurse or midwife to see what feels right for you. Consider bringing some of your favourite light and sweet foods and/or drinks that you can sip or take by small mouthful during labour. Packing some healthy food for labour support people is also a great idea. See below for information on eating and drinking in labour and some tips on good labour foods.
