There are 95 birthing hospitals in Ontario. They vary in the type of services offered and the number of births they do, from under 100 births per year (in some remote communities) to over 7000 per year (in downtown Toronto). Most hospitals have a combination of doctors, nurses and midwives, but teams vary.
Many hospitals offer regular tours (in person/virtual) of the labour and birth area to help you and your support people prepare for your upcoming hospital birth. It's useful to be familiar with your potential birthing environment, even if you're planning a home birth, to see where you'd transport in case plans change. See the links below to get in touch with the hospital you may want to tour and to know what to ask when touring potential locations.
